An 18th-century farmhouse of Dutch architectural style, operated by the Columbia County Historical Society.

Luykas Van Alen, a wealthy farmer and merchant, built the house in 1737.

The homestead is furnished with mid-18th century furniture and decorative arts reflecting Van Alen's wealth and background.

The homestead, a National Historic Landmark, is located on Route 9H in Kinderhook.

The annual Van Alen Antiques Festival is held in June. Children's programs are held during the summer months, and school groups take part in hands-on activities in the spring and fall.
